The digital age is apparent all around us. Digital art can combine and transform such elements as painting, filmmaking, photography, design, video, installation art, sculpture, animation and sound. We have become accustomed to images which are created and manipulated in this way and artists have embraced the possibilities of this unique medium. Drawing with a mouse or stylus on a mat and seeing the image appear on a screen is very freeing. Qualities can be created which no other medium can replicate. It appeals to the child in all of us. The images on this gallery are playful and simple, using basic programmes to produce an image from scratch or edit parts of photographs to make a complete departure from the original. I can see the attraction of working in this way using one’s imagination as a starting point and the computer as a tool and hope to explore this medium further in the future.
